Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, Alix Alvarez was inspired by trips to some of the city’s best nightclubs, including Timmy Regisford’s Shelter night and decided to head in the direction of DJ/producer himself, selling mixtapes and attending The Institute of Audio Research in Manhattan to study audio engineering to that end.

Gaining a much-coveted position as an assistant engineer at Louie Vega and Kenny Dope’s MAW studios enabled Alvarez to research and develop his own production style, one where he has cleverly married electronic, dancefloor-aimed sounds with emotive, musical elements.

Since his tentative early beginnings Alix has gone on to produce and remix records for some of the world’s best-respected deep house labels, including underground smash “Rising Into Joy”, which he produced and co-wrote with Arnold Jarvis, Tortured Soul “How’s Your Life?” (Central Park), House Headz “The Anthem” (Ricanstruction), Luna “Alone” (Distant), Alma Horton “Gimmie That Music” (83 West), Santos “Love Made For Two” (Yoruba) and Mr.V “Jus’ Dance”(Vega Records).

Alongside sometime DJ and studio partner Mr.V Alix established the Sole Channel Music label, which has released music from respected heavyweights such as Franck Roger, Siji and Arnold Jarvis.
