We first discovered the half-Mauritian singer and percussionist Mo Kolours when Stefan Asanovic’s wonderfully psychedelic video for Biddies was posted on the Jus Like Music blog. Like Drum Talking, his debut outing, Banana Wine is rooted in the traditional Sega folk music of Mo Kolours’ homeland, but this collection shows off the dub-wise influence of his current South London location.

Samples are delicately sliced, carefully placed and treated with an emotive lo-fi wash as each track’s bed of stuttering rhythm evolves. The EP also includes a bonus remix from Washington’s Future Times stable: Beautiful Swimmers submerge Mini Culcha into a squelching leftfield houser, reminiscent of FlyLo’s enticing Do The Astral Plane.
