Those in the know would have attended the launch Yesking’s Overproof EP launch at Floripa in East London last Thursday, where his eight piece live band was supported by man of the moment, BJ Smith performing his folk-soul covers of ‘Umi Says’ and ‘Runnin”. I first came across Yesking in the summer of 2008 when I picked up a 12″ on Sonar Kollektiv from Recloose featuring Fat Freddy’s Drop frontman, Joe Dukie. The record’s standout cut was tucked away on the b-side: a remix of ‘Deeper Waters‘ by Rhys ‘Yesking’ Adams that has served me well in my sundown DJ sets ever since.

His new EP drops at the end of this month, and will be followed in March by a full length album on the dependable UK imprint, BBE Records. ‘Re-Record Not Fade Away’ marks a coming of age for the seasoned studio head, bringing his soothing dubwise massage to the material of a top rate roster of UK mic talent, including the enticing vocals of Nottingham-raised newcomer, Mel Uye-Parker.

Pre-orders are available now so you can secure your copy of the limited EP that comes packed with re-rubs from Chris Read, Sola Rosa and Joe Revell, and an alternate dub of album closer ‘Raise Up’.
